LifeForce Memorial Day Service 2008 - Together in the spirit of comfort and hope
Thank you to all those who joined us at this special service held on 1st October.
Losing a loved one to suicide is a sorrow unlike any other, but you are not alone. We hope that you will share with others who have been touched by suicide, so that together we can build compassion and commitment to help prevent suicide in our communities.
We invite you to share your story and leave a message of love and remembrance on the LifeForce Memorial Wall.

About LifeForce Suicide Prevention
LifeForce programs are aimed at training community members from all walks of life to know what to do in a time of suicidal crisis, appropriately and confidently.
LifeForce is a suicide prevention program aiming to educate, empower and resource Australian communities to be aware of the issue of suicide, to recognise the signals of suicide, to effectively intervene and minimise the danger of suicide, and to be sufficiently resourced to refer the person with thoughts of suicide onto appropriate, qualified help.
The Lifeforce Suicide Prevention Program was established in 1995 by Reverend Bob Dunlop of Wesley Mission as a response to the growing number of suicides in Australia. The program was initially known as "Hearing the Cry" and it aimed at training community members from all walks of life to know what to do in a time of suicidal crisis, appropriately and confidently.
Over the last few years the Program has experienced positive growth and is now part of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy and supported by the Federal Government.
LifeForce is NOT a crisis hotline.

"Although it has been 17 years since my beloved younger brother John took his life, it took me 16 years to talk publicly about his death and the effect on our family of his suicide.
The LifeForce service was very significant for me. It was the first time I'd faced a living, breathing audience and I found it profoundly moving, being able to see and hear others who'd been down the dark road of losing family members to suicide. I am grateful and honoured to have been a part of the service."
